SA3724 Hong Kong and Mainland Integration

Discuss the development of Hong Kong and Mainland China integration from social, political, economic and environmental aspects 25 2. Identify the underlying factors and mechanism that drive the dynamic interaction between Hong Kong and mainland China, including forces that promote and defer further integration 25 3. Analyze significant social, political, economic and environmental issues in the process of Hong Kong and Mainland integration 50 Teaching and Learning Activities (TLAs) CILO No. TLAs Hours/week CILO 1,2 Lectures will summarise and explain the development of Hong Kong and Mainland China integration from social, political, economic and environmental aspects. Student-teacher interactions will frequently take place in the form of class debate and discussion. Guest lectures will also be offered on related topics when appropriate. 2 hours per week CILO 2,3 Essential readings on topical themes will be assigned to students for self study and follow-up in class discussions. 2 hours per week CILO 3 Students form into small groups for an in-depth study of specific topics. Group presentation and discussion will be conducted at the tutorial section. An individual analytical paper is required after the tutorial presentation and discussion. 1 project per semester and 1 hour per week for group discussion Assessment Tasks/Activities Students are required to pass BOTH the coursework assessment AND the examination before they can be awarded an overall passing grade of the course.
