Part II

Course Aims:

  • Understand the strategy development process in a firm and how structure and strategy are interrelated concepts that lead to trade-offs in the real world

  • Understand the types of multinational enterprises and how they are organized around both functional and strategic goals

  • Understand the types of international collaborative arrangements that MNEs can enter and the ramifications for the MNEs of those arrangements

  • Understand the nature of control in MNEs and describe the competing theories on how the relationship between HQs and subsidiaries should be managed for mutual benefit

  • Understand how the management of internal functional areas are affected by the types of organizational forms taken by MNEs and the strategies they have adopted 

  • Understand the linkages and relationships between corporate level strategies and functional level strategies.
