Course Aims:


a.      To enable students to develop awareness of the central importance of human resources in the effective and efficient operation of organizations.

 b.     To develop within students’ knowledge of the role, functions and range of activities undertaken by a Human Resource Management department within an organization.

 c.      To familiarize students with a the processes and techniques of human resource management so that they could be reasonably expected to understand and appreciate human resource practices within work organizations within which they may be employed.

d.     To provide students an awareness of contemporary debates and controversies within the relevant theoretical and applied areas of human resource management. Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs):

Describe the basic human resource management functions within the organization including labor law, human resource planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and compensation.

Determine the factors to take into account in the human resource planning, recruitment, selection, training and development.

 

4.

Discuss and appraise alternative ways to establish pay rates and other current trends in compensation.

Apply a range of human resource generalist, specialist skills to support the organizational and departmental functions.
