Part II

Course Aims
Give participants insights into the practical aspects of I.T. applications, management and leadership in large corporations in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region as well as help participants build and enhance their business and professional networks.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

Seminar :    3 hours per week

TLA1: Participation in Seminars
There will be up to 12 seminar sessions of the Information Technology Leadership Forum spreading over each semester in Year 2 of the IS-related MSc programmes (i.e. MScISM, MScBIS, MScEBKM and MSEC).  Seminars are presented as a series of guest lecture/seminar sessions or panel discussion sessions by invited speakers.

Participants will be able to extend their business and professional networks through interactions not only with the invited speakers but also with attendants from joint seminars with relevant professional bodies.

Participants in IS6940A, IS6940B and IS6940C must attend at least 3, 6, and 9 sessions respectively.  They are required to actively participate in question and answer sessions during or at the end of each lecture.  At the end of the talk, participants are requested to ask questions that are well prepared beforehand, discuss with the guest speaker(s) and interact with other participants.

TLA2: Individual Report
Participants in IS6940A, IS6940B and IS6940C must submit 2, 3, and 5 reports respectively for assessment.

Assessment Tasks/Activities

AT1: Seminar and Participation (20%):
Individual participation and contribution in the Forum, quality of input (not quantity) is the goal.  Assessment will focus on the participant’s ability to provide organized and original contributions that reflect critical analysis and synthesis of the material presented.

Grading of Student Achievement:
Grading is assigned based on students’ achievement of ILOs in accordance to the defined grading criteria.  Grading pattern: Standard (A+, A, A- .. C-, D, F)


Part III

Keyword Syllabus
A renowned senior I.T. executive (or a panel of senior I.T. executives) from large corporations and multinationals will be invited to present to the participants on a topic about his/her company or associated business sector/industry in each session.

Information about the invited guest speaker(s) and his/her company (such as history of the company, annual reports, recent development and products, etc.) or business sector/industry has to be collected by the participants before the session.

The topics may be of immediate interest, or ones which are likely to become important in the longer term.  The seminar series may also be opened to a wider audience, thus widening the range of discussion.

Guest speakers will address a range of relevant topics, though care will be taken to avoid the repetition of the same topic within the semester.  Guest speakers will be selected on the basis of their expertise, professional standing and managerial experience as well as his/her ability to hold an audience.
