Part II Course Aims:This course aims to develop your ability to use English to:
§ write an effective argumentative essay
§ write an effective report

Teaching and Learning Activities (TLAs) The following are designed to help you achieve the CILOs: CILO | In this course you will work individually, in pairs and in groups to: | | 1 | construct visual and/or textual maps about different topics | | 2 | critique ideas – your own and others' – and comment on their relevance | | 3 | analyze texts to evaluate structure, organization and content | | 1-6 | practise writing (sections of) essays and reports | | 2-5 | give and receive feedback on your writing | | 5 | edit and revise writing based on feedback | | 6 | do focused activities to expand vocabulary |
Throughout all teaching and learning activities you will be expected to participate actively in evaluating your own and other people's work, receiving and providing feedback, and using this to help you improve.
Assessment Tasks/Activities
There are two coursework assessments. The following assessment tasks are designed to assess how well you achieve the CILOs:
Coursework Assessment One (20%)
