Themes include making social arrangements, dining out, shopping, telephoning, socializing at work, travelling and dealing with difficult people and situations | | 1,2,3 | participate in role plays to practise the target language in appropriate situations |
Throughout all teaching and learning activities you will be expected to participate actively in evaluating your own and other people's work, receiving and providing feedback, and using this to help you improve. Assessment Tasks/ActivitiesThere are three assessments. The following assessment tasks are designed to assess how well you achieve the CILOs. Assessment One (20%)
i. | Assessment Task Description | | | This assessment takes the form of a quiz. Five quizzes will be conducted over Lessons 2-11. Each member of the class will respond to one quiz question, based on Key Language studied in the previous lesson. The quiz will involve restating a sentence, (which is inaccurate or inappropriate in some way) in an accurate and appropriate form, either using a sentence from the Key Language or another that is equally accurate and appropriate. | ii. | CILOs Assessed |
| This task assesses your ability to: § identify and correct errors of accuracy and appropriacy in social English words and phrases (CILO 1) § adjust your language to different levels of politeness and friendliness (CILO 2) | iii. | Assessment Criteria | Accurate and appropriate usage of a range of particular words, phrases and expressions | (CILOs 1,2) | Assessment Two (40%)i. | Assessment Task Description | | | You and your classmates will form groups of 4 (or 3 if no 4th person is available) and video a role play lasting 5-7 minutes.Material should include key phrases and any other aspects of social discourse as recommended in at least three of the units. | ii. | CILOs Assessed |
