Part II
Course Aims:
This course follows up with CS2373 – Introduction to Web Technologies for Digital Media and provides more in-depth study on advanced topics related to technology and digital media broadcast. The course is designed for non-Computer Science students and is suitable for students studying digital media, digital broadcasting or other related disciplines. The objective is to provide these students with an opportunity to study and analyze current issues, topics, and trends related to Web-based technology use in digital media broadcasting.

Examination duration: 2 hours Percentage of coursework, examination, etc.: 80% CW; 20% Exam Grading pattern: Standard (A+AA-…F) For a student to pass the course, at least 30% of the maximum mark for the examination must be obtained.

Keyword Syllabus:
Topics/issues may vary from year to year. Some topics/issues might overlap with CS2373, but will be covered with more depth and students will be required to do more detailed research and perform critical analysis. The main focus is on the technology-side of the issues. For example, one topic might be “digital rights” and its related technologies and standards. Other topics might include net neutrality and its impact to digital media broadcasting, detailed analysis of social networks and their impact to digital media broadcasting, virtual worlds as a new channel for media publication, new interactivity/devices and their impact to digital media broadcasting (such as multi-touch interactivity or interactive surfaces), etc.
