Course Aims & Objectives:
The course introduces the major hardware and software issues in operating systems. Upon completion, students should be able to identify the functions and facilities of operating systems; to select an operating system for a specified application and system configuration.

Examination duration: 2 hours
Percentage distribution of marks for coursework, examination, other: 40% CW; 60% Exam
Grading pattern: Standard (A+AA-...F)
For a student to pass the course, at least 30% of the maximum mark for the examination must be obtained.
