Course Aims & Objectives: Aims: The course aims to help students to understand our culture by focusing on regional and topical studies. This is one of the measures taken up by the University to strengthen students' cultural competence. On top of receiving proper training in chosen disciplines, understanding the Chinese cultural heritage is an essential part to students' intellectual wealth, academic excellence and future career.
Objectives: After taking any sections of the course, students are expected to be able to acquire a profound understanding of Chinese culture particularly in terms of regional uniqueness and peculiarities caused by geographical, political, social as well as economic disparities. Students can also strengthen their competitiveness for future career in mainland China as they have more opportunities to experience real life interactions with local people. Getting mastery over the above aspects, in no doubt, serves as a basis for a strong cultural affinity and a source of confidence enabling our students to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
